Glowing Skin 101: Your Holiday-Ready Treatment Guide

Everyone knows the perfect accessory to sparkly holiday attire is a radiant complexion. (But come to think of it, isn’t glowing skin the perfect complement to every aspect of life? Honestly, can it be overrated? We think not!) Now that we’re gearing up for another hectic holiday season, it’s time to start planning your skin treatments so you can enjoy your radiant best results in time for the festivities.

So glow on, keep reading!

Microneedling
Microneedling is the gold standard for smoothing textural concerns like acne scars and stretch marks, but this tried-and-true skin revitalizer can improve almost every aspect of your complexion, shrinking pores, diminishing lines and wrinkles, brightening dullness and even tightening lax skin.
How it works: Microneedling creates thousands of tiny treatment channels in the skin to spur your skin’s natural healing response. As your skin renews itself, it produces new collagen and elastin, which are the building blocks for supple, elastic and youthful skin. This renewal process takes place in the weeks and months following your treatment.
Timing: Your best results can be achieved with a series of treatments spaced about a month apart. Immediately following your microneedling session, your skin will be quite red and slightly swollen. This redness will gradually fade as your skin starts to renew itself, a process that can take up to a week. However, even after your skin is fully healed, it will continue to produce new collagen and elastin in the weeks and months following your treatment.
Treatment tips: One of the great things about microneedling is that it pairs beautifully with medical-grade skin care or other skin treatments to provide a synergistic boost of skin-renewing benefits. Buildable benefits are key with microneedling! With every treatment you do, your complexion benefits will continue to intensify, revealing smoother, more radiant skin that looks healthier and younger!

Botox® and dermal fillers
FDA-approved Botox and dermal fillers are the world’s most popular non-surgical aesthetic treatments for good reason! They help reverse years of aging within minutes. It’s hard to beat that.
How they work: Botox is a neuromodulator that relaxes the muscles causing your wrinkles to form. Once your wrinkle-rousing muscles are relaxed, the skin above smooths out. It’s that simple! Dermal fillers are aptly named because they fill in lost volume on the face and hands using a clear gel that’s packed with a modified form of hyaluronic acid (HA). Unlike Botox, which can take four to 10 days to reveal your full results, fillers work immediately, providing an immediate plumping and smoothing effect to the skin.
Timing: With every injection, there is a risk of swelling, bruising and pinpoint bleeding. It can take up to two weeks for these normal side effects to fully subside and for your injectables to take optimal effect. We recommend scheduling your injectables session at least a full month before any event. You won’t need all that time in most cases, but it’s always better to give yourself a comfortable buffer in case you need it.
Treatment tips: It’s worth noting that it can take a little time for your fillers to fully settle into your facial contours. This goes for Botox, too. Sometimes, it will appear as if your treatment is imbalanced immediately following your session when, in fact, it’s simply a sign that your Botox is taking effect at different times at different areas of your face. It’s important to be patient, because if you rush back in to get an adjustment too early, you risk overtreating the area. Oftentimes, all it takes is another day or two for any imbalances to correct themselves, but rest assured, we will work closely with you to achieve your best results every step of the way.

Chemical peels
Another glow-getting staple, chemical peels use a special solution to exfoliate the outermost layers of skin and reveal a wide range of complexion improvements, including smoother texture, faded dark spots, brighter tone, diminished lines and wrinkles, smaller pore size, clearer skin and more.
Timing: Depending on the intensity of your chemical peel, you may need a few days to a week or so of healing following your treatment. The more intense your peel the more time your skin will need to renew itself. We recommend scheduling your peel a month before you need to see results.
Treatment tips: Similar to microneedling, buildable benefits are key with chemical peels. This is precisely why we recommend scheduling a series of chemical peels. For optimal benefits, it’s safer and easier on your skin to undergo a series of milder peels with minimal downtime as opposed to one intense and deep peel with several days of downtime. We will work closely with you to devise a chemical peel regimen that meets your needs and downtime preferences perfectly.

The quintessential no-downtime party prepping treatment, HydraFacial is the perfect tool for getting your glow on at the last minute — literally. HydraFacial uses water, vortex suction and results-driven serums to exfoliate, deep-clean, hydrate and revitalize your skin without side effects or downtime.
Timing: As we’ve already said, you can do HydraFacial any time you like. There’s no downtime.
